The 10th July meeting was well attended and most peoplle enjoyed the pre meeting meal provided by the Lockley’s bowling club. In order for the meals to remain viable the Lockleys Bowling Club has announced an increase in the price from $12 to $15. This is the only price increase since we have been holding meetings at the Lockleys Club and I encourage everyon to continue coming to the meals as they still represent good value.
Leigh Causby’s workshop visit was well attended and gave us an insight to all the work Leigh has done on his project in the last year.
Peter Bakkers Sonex workshop visit occured just week later and although unable to attend myself I understand it was well patronised and provided some insight into what we are planning as the club building ,educational project.
Steve Nelson gave a most interesting talk which could possibly be described as a day in the life of an airline captain. Steve gave us an insiders view of the preparation for and the flying of his last international flight prior to his retirement. Flight was from Adealide via Melbourne to Hongkong and return. The talk generated a number of questions from our members which were capably answered by Steve. A bottle was given to Steve to show our appreciation of his presentation.
The ballot is now closed for the club build project and votes have been received from more than half of club members. The results are 90% for and 10% against. With those results the club has a clear mandate to go ahead with the project. While in Oshkosh this week Steve Nelson has managed to secure a 10% discount for the kit as an educational project. It is the councils intention to order the kit in the very near future. More about the project at the next meeting.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on the 14th of August.
