Presidents Report – August 2024

SeeNotwithstanding some gusty wind conditions, the Brooklands Park fly-in for lunch at the Wellington Hotel on the 26th of July went ahead.

From all reports the lunch was enjoyed by all despite a landing incident during the arrival at YBAK. Thank you to Greg Veysey for organising this event and to all who assisted with the incident. you at the meeting.    

Our next Club Meeting is on Wednesday the 14th of August and our speaker will be Dr Paul Dare about aviation photography. Please arrive by 1830 if you are having dinner before the meeting. As always, please remember to book-in via the Club website.

Your Council is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of social media coordinator. If you have skills in this area please contact any of the Councillors. We are also seeking feedback from members on ideas to improve the club, particularly about ways to attract new members and to provide the membership with benefits. Again, please pass on your ideas to any Councillor.

The upcoming activities are as follows:

  • Club BBQ’s at Murray Bridge Aerodrome are planned for the Saturday’s 17th August and the 7th of December. An attendance sheet for the 17th of August BBQ will be circulated at the upcoming Club Meeting.
  • The second and final Bunnings BBQ for 2024 is on Saturday the 7th of September. Treasurer Greg Tabe is looking for volunteers so please see him at the Club Meeting.
  • Overnight fly-in visit to Boston Island (near Port Lincoln). Although the date is still to be confirmed, Friday the 15th of November is pencilled in at this stage.
  • Workshop visit to Ian Johnson’s Waiex build. Ian advises that this visit is likely to be in late Spring and will probably include a BBQ. More details to come when the weather warms up!
  • Christmas function on the evening of the 20th of November. Please note the date in your diary.
