Presidents Report July 2015

To All Sport Aircraft Club members,

Your Sonex aircraft burst into life last weekend to the cheers and jubilation of the build team. The engine started immediately with Chris Dearden in the cockpit pushing the right buttons. After it ran for a couple of minutes we determined the secondary ignition wasn’t functional. Inserting the missing fuse and re-timing soon fixed that little problem. The oil filter hadn’t been fully tightened and a small drip of fuel on the gascolater valve were the only other issues. These were soon corrected and Saturday finished with a sweet running engine.

Welcome to Tim Svenson our newest club members and Sonex builder team member.

Next Sunday is the fly in to Graham and Robyn’s strip bring your lunch and enjoy the company of other flyers and friends.

Wednesday week is our next club meeting at Lockleys and we are in for a fascinating talk by Dr Brett Gooden on Projekt Natter -Last of the wonder weapons. Dr Gooden has researched and written a book about the German rocket powered aircraft that appeared at the end of World War II.

Please let me know your meal bookings as Steve Biele is away  (taking his Lightning on a flight to Queensland). This would be a great evening to bring a friend as the speaker is accomplished and is speaking  on a subject that would appeal to many interested in WWII history and science.

Look forward to you all at the fly in and next weekends meeting.
