Presidents Report July 2014

On the 20th July around 25 members and visitors of Sport Aircraft Club flew and drove to the Monarto Gliding Museum and airstrip to take a look at the history of gliding as preserved by Emilis Prelgauskas the owner of this private collection and museum. It was an interesting visit with six arriving aircraft and a larger number of cars. The museum artifacts were fascinating and included an original foot launched glider as built by scouts in Loxton nearly 100 years ago.

The club Sonex building project continues to inspire – with the rear fuselage complete and the cabin area getting intense attention by up to 8 builders per session. Great to see the younger builders and a few new club members getting enthusiastic about the progress which is now well ahead of schedule. If you too want to be involved with this enthusiastic group just turn up to a session for a chat and look or contact me via the website.

Avplan flight software is the subject of the presentation at the next meeting on the 13th of August. Bevan Anderson who is giving the presentation is the founder of Avplan. For all you need to know about this Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) that is certified by CASA and is being used around the world.  Be there –  get the most up to date knowledge about flight planning and navigating in an increasingly paperless world.

Get your meal orders in early by emailing Steve Biele from the website contacts as the 13th August meeting is already looking like a busy night.
