Best wishes to all members for the New Year.
The December Christmas meeting was a great success with Kate Clement’s story of the flight to Australia from Scotland in the 1960’s – quite an achievement without the navigation equipment we have at our fingertips now.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the The club breakfast at Goolwa which was well organised by Steve Nelson and well attended by our members and friends. Initially it was planned that the club Sonex would attend – if possible. However due to some teething problems with fuel flow and ignition it was decided to leave the Sonex at Murray Bridge until the problems were resolved.
I am happy to report the Club Sonex fuel flow problem seems to be resolved with the fitment of a new metering needle. We are still looking at a weak ignition coil module on the primary ignition after eliminating a host of other possibilities. We will resolve this by substituting a new coil module in the coming days. Once these issues have been fixed it will be back to flight testing. The Sonex has only a couple of hours on it at the moment. As soon as the 25 hours are flown it will be available to club members for endorsements with builders having first priority.
The first meeting of the year is the 10th of February and I look forward to catching up with everyone and hearing the building and flying stories that happened over the Christmas break.
Please consider yourself for council in the 2016 year as the annual general meeting takes place in March and at least one councilor is not standing this year.
Why fly? Simple. I’m not happy unless there’s some room between me and the ground. ~Richard Bach
