Hi Members,
Hope you all had a great Christmas break and are ready to fly into 2015.
Amongst other events your council is organising a fly in to Antechamber Bay on Kangaroo Island with lunch at Chapman River Wines on Sunday 15th March. Some you will recall we last visted this venue in 2012. It is a great place to fly into with a 950 metre grass strip. The venue is a very short walk from the strip nestled behind some tall pines. Many aircraft can be in gliding range of land if they make the overwater crossing from Cape Jervis and get up to the control step of 8500 feet.
The Sonex build continued over Christmas and the holiday season (although a little slower), we have managed to fit the windscreen and canopy and paint the required parts of the interior. The instruments have been ordered and are expected in around 3 weeks. The second hand engine, that the club purchased for the project has been torn down for inspection and is currently being assesed ready for reassembly. The airframe is ready to accept the engine.
The March meeting of the Sport Aircraft Club of SA is the annual general meeting and I encourage everyone who to attend and where possible participate on council. The council is a friendly team happy to mentor anyone who would like to join us in the not too onerus tasks of manageing club business.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone next Wednesday.

Pilots are a rare kind of human. They leave the ordinary surface of the world, to purify their soul in the sky, and they come down to earth, only after receiving the communion of the infinite. ~Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra
