Hi Sport Aircraft Club Members
The Sport Aircraft Club annual Christmas dinner was held in November and this year’s event, held at the Edinburgh hotel, was in the same fun tradition as previous years. Thanks to Judith King (and Edward and others behind the scenes) for her effort in organising the event and developing and presenting the skit presented at the beginning of the meal.
Congratulations to those people who received awards and recognition for their efforts in support of the club and for their building prowess.
Morrie Hoy received the most outstanding completed aircraft award for 2013 and Chris Dearden was awarded the Judith King award for his work in setting up the club website and his support for the club aircraft building project.
Since my last report the club aircraft building project has been quietly going ahead.
- The airframe kit delivery has been delayed a few weeks, now due around the 10th of December.
- The club had the opportunity to purchase a low hours (60 hours from new) Aerovee engine to match the airframe and this purchase has gone ahead.
- Further, we can now announce that due to generosity of a new club member Dr. Dan Anderson -the building site is now the garage at the rear of The Linden Park Medical Clinic 412 Portrush Road Linden Park. Dr Anderson is DAME (designated aviation medical examiner) so support him for aviation medical examinations where possible.
Applications to be part of the building team now close Tuesday 17th December 2013.
David Harris will be speaking at the Christmas meeting -Wednesday 11th December on his recent visit to the Hahnweide air show in Europe. There will also be a 15 minute video showing of the Sonex aircraft.
The committee has determined that the club annual fees need to be increased from $50 to $60 to cover expenses. This is a small increase given it hasn’t been increased for a number of years and represents amazing value for an incorporated club.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the December meeting.
