Our fly away activities saw a lot of members away from Adelaide, and as a consequence the May meeting was cancelled due to a lack of numbers. The Club Safari was a great success and we will learn about the adventures at the June meeting. Separately, two Van’s RV aircraft travelled to Queensland for the RV Aircraft Association of Australia convention at the Southport Flying Club.
Thank you to Milton and Ted King for a very interesting workshop visit to look at the Lightning project. It is certainly a very sleek and fast machine.
Your Council met on the 28th of May and I am pleased to announce that Barbara Trappett has been appointed to the Council as Treasurer. Thank you Barbara for volunteering to hold this very important position.
Our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fund raising events provide us with an income stream to support our scholarship and training programs. Our next event is on Saturday the 14th of June at Windsor Gardens. Greg Holland is our new coordinator and we are looking for volunteers to operate the BBQ in either a morning or afternoon shift. Please email Greg via the Website and let him know your preference.
For your diary, please note the following upcoming activities:
- Saturday the 31st of May fly-in to Lameroo for lunch at the Mallee Spirits gin distillery. The strip is about 3nm SW of Lameroo Township with 2 runways, an East West 1500m long and a North South 700m long. Elevation is 250’. Early bird arrivals at 0900 to look at Kevin Traeger’s aircraft and machinery collection. Arrive by 1100 for shuttle transport to the Mallee Spirits site for lunch. Cost of the lunch is $25 per person.
General Meeting Wednesday the 11th of June. As usual, please book via the members section of the website. Our speakers will be Greg Robertson, David and Sherri Pocock presenting on the recent Club Safari. It sounds as though the team had a lot of fun as well as few technical challenges. Do come along and listen to the presentation.
Safe flying. John Siebert
