During August a workshop visit was held to see Morrie Hoy’s just completed Lancair 360 aircraft. The event was well attended by club members and friends. The airplane is an example of a builder who has spent many hours and amazing attention to detail to produce an exciting new aircraft.
At the September club meeting Ted Meeuwsen gave an interesting account of the restoration of his Chinese built Nanchang aircraft including some history of the model and its use as a trainer in China prior to trainees stepping up to the MIG models used in the Chinese air force. Ted’s account included how he was overcoming the difficulties associated with obtaining replacement engines now that the airplane was no longer being produced in China.
The speakers for October will be giving reports of recent events attended by club members.
It will be great to hear how Brian Degenhardt has won Grand Champion at the recent Ausfly event at Narromine. We will also hear from the participants in the Murray Bridge to Antechamber Bay rally being held on the 22nd September and hopefully a report on the Reno air race.
Other events still to come this year include a lunch trip to Loxton, the film night (1st release film James Bond – “Sky Fall”, club weekend fly away to Port Augusta and Christmas breakfast fly-in.
Keep checking the website (new website coming soon) for the latest calendar of events and club activities.
