Well, after a very interesting 4WD trip out to Maralinga and the West Coast, I returned to find that I have taken over from Steve as your President! Steve has done a fantastic job as Councillor and President over a long period of years and I hope that I can live up to the standard set. I look forward to working with the new Council during the coming year.
Our Club Safari is currently underway and is due to return from the West on the 6th of May. I trust that they have a smoother run than Heather and I had in March when returning from the RV Association fly-in at Serpentine. Flood waters and low cloud made our Nullabor crossing East bound more than a bit interesting. No food or drink at Forrest but we did get a bed!
Our next Club Meeting is on Wednesday the 8th of May and our guest speaker is Nigel Dawson from the South Australian Aviation Museum about his new book: “Regional Airlines of South Australia 1967 – 2017.” Please book in via the Club website.
In June we don’t have an external speaker but I am hoping that Greg and the team will be able to give us a rundown on the Club Safari.
CASA Pilot Safety Seminars are being rolled out. The South Australian venues of interest are as follows:
- Port Pirie 7 May 1830
- Port Lincoln 24 May 1830
- Parafield 29 May 1830
Details on how to register are on the CASA Website. Also, time is running out on the ADSB subsidy; don’t miss out on this important funding.
See you at the meeting.
Safe flying.
