Presidents Report March 2016

Last month we visited Steve Nelson’s workshop to view his well advanced Onex single seat aircraft. This gave many members the opportunity to see how an aircraft can be built at home, in a garage. Thanks to Steve and Dominie for their hospitality.

Next Wednesday’s meeting is the clubs annual general meeting where the members get the opportunity to elect a new council from those nominating. If you would like to nominate someone or yourself we would be pleased to put you up for election. To nominate you need to be a financial members and to have been a member of the Sport Aircraft Club of SA for more than one year. You can contact myself or another council members via the website to nominate.

The Echuca fly in next month promises to be a seriously good event. Lots of historic aircraft on the field, good accommodation near the centre of historic Echuca and an evening meal with aviation minded friends. See the club website for more details.

The club built Sonex aircraft is now well into the required 25 hours of test flying with about 14 hours already flown. The aircraft engine is now loosening up and performance testing can begin. This week it made the trip from Murray Bridge to Goolwa (which is within the fly off zone) at the capable hands of Mike Holtby. Be sure not to miss the presentation at the club meeting next week as it will be about the iEFIS electronic display system in the club aircraft with a live simulation of the operation of the equipment.

Please note due to unforeseen circumstances the March AGM is being held at Public Schools Club 207 East Terrace Adelaide. Michal Crossley, our usual caterer, will still be providing the meal. Plenty of parking is available on East Terrace.
