Presidents Report June 2013

At the June 13th meeting members and one visitor, Richard MacDonald, were welcomed.

The meeting erupted in applause at the announcement of the 1st flight of Morrie Hoy’s Lancair 360. A great effort to produce an immaculate aircraft. Photos on the home page. The grin on his face tells it all.

Steve Biele presented a short video showing testing of his son at 9.5g in a centrifuge prior to flying the latest jet fighters in the US. Amazing to see the breathing control and hard to imagine that the pilot can be alert to all his duties while making such effort to maintain consciousness.

Brian Degenhardt attended the Sunraysia queens birthday fly in and gave a short report about the event. The Roger Stokes wake was well attended and the anniversary of the late Ross Vining was remembered.

David Harrris and Chris Dearden gave presentations at the meeting regarding the proposed building project for the club and these presentations together with additional information can be viewed on the Sport Aircraft Club website under “BUILDING” then click on “CLUB BUILDING PROJECT”. The purpose of the presentations is to provide members with sufficient information so that they can form an opinion and then vote the project to go ahead or not. The vote will be by reply to an email from the club prior to the next meeting in July when the result will be announced.

Members and visitor enjoyed coffee and a chat about all things aeronautical following the meeting.

And for Morrie Hoy from the 1st home builder –

More than anything else the sensation is one of perfect peace mingled with an
excitement that strains every nerve to the utmost, if you can conceive of such a
combination.  ~Wilbur Wright
