Club members at the Christmas fly in brunch on the 18th of December were treated to ideal weather and enjoyed a great barbecue while viewing a number of visiting aircraft. There were three Sonex aircraft parked on the apron including the club built and owned 19-8656 tricycle under carriage model. Pictures here on the the club website.
At least three aircraft from the Sport Aircraft Club flew over to Kangaroo Island for the American river gala day in January this year. Weather was perfect and the bus to the event made for a very pleasant day catching up with pilots and friends. Pictures here on the the club website.
2017 is looking like an eventful year for the Sport Aircraft Club. There will be opportunities for all members to participate in flying and non flying events. The first club meeting for the year is next Wednesday the 8th of February. See and hear from Robert Wintulich some fascinating information about the 120 competing gliders in the just finished world gliding competition. Don’t forget your meal booking.
Sunday the 12th is the first workshop visit and once off opportunity to see the “Lightning Bug” that Edward King and Son Milton have been working on for the last couple of years. It is now nearing completion. A most interesting and very fast all composite home built aircraft.
May the 6th to 12th is 2017 club Safari visiting Woomera, Coober Pedy, Maralinga, Ceduna and Hart’s Port Lincoln Airpark.
I urge anyone interested in helping the club as a council member please contact me as we may have one or two vacancies. All we ask of our club council is attendance at a very pleasant get together once a month and a some help at events and or planning.
