Presidents Report – December 2025
Our Christmas dinner was enjoyed by a large number of members with their family and friends. A huge thank you to all involved in preparing and running the event. Also, many congratulations to Chris Dearden for his award of a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding IT support over many years. Thank you Chris. As you stock up for Christmas, please consider supporting our sponsors (as shown on the website).
Glorious weather greeted all who attended the Rowland Flat fly/drive in BBQ lunch on Sunday the 23rd of November. Thank you to our host Steve Ahrens for opening up his hangar for our group. A special thank you to Treasurer Barb Trappett for her delicious cheese platter and salads. Just a reminder that Rowland Flat is under new ownership and is now PPR – please contact me if you need the details.

Some of our members attended the Clare Valley aerodrome CASA AvSafe and OzRunways presentations on Sunday the 30th of November. A lot of useful information was gleaned from both presentations. Terry Horsam of CASA, who has, in the past, presented to our Club, is proceeding on Long Service Leave early next year so this may well have been Terry’s last safety presentation. On behalf of the Sport Aircraft Club of SA I would like to thank Terry for his very positive interaction with the sport aviation sector and wish him well for his leave in the New Year.
This coming Saturday we have the RFDS fund raising brunch BBQ fly/drive in from 1000-1200 at YMBD. Please come along and support our nominated charity and enjoy a light meal.
The Club Safari for 2026 is currently being planned by Greg Tabe and will run from the 16th to the 30th of April. The route is mainly in Victoria and details will be on the website shortly.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday the 11th of February at the West Adelaide Football Club. Our speaker will be Retired Group Captain Bruce Mouatt a former RAAF air defence and light attack pilot. Bruce flew the RAAF CAC Sabre, Mirage III O and the F/A18 Hornet as well as the Vought A7 Corsair and OV10 Bronco with the USAF. Please mark your diary.
On behalf of your Council I wish all members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Safe Flying,
John Siebert
