Presidents Report December 2015

Great things for the have been happening in the last month.

Wonderful Christmas dinner at Citi-Zen restaurant, thanks to Steve Nelson, the council, Judith King and all the members who attended making  it a successful and enjoyable evening. Leigh Causby took out honors for the best finished aircraft and Steve Nelson took home the Judith King award for his sustained support of the club.

In the last weeks of November the Club built Sonex aircraft took to the skies for the first time. Pictures are on the club website.  It has now flown a bit over an hour while final adjustments to the mixture and timing were made.  A total of 25 hours needs to flown before it is widely available to builders and club members with an RA Aus licence. As it is allowed to fly between Murray Bridge and Goolwa during its initial hours we are hopeful that it will be at Goolwa for the Club Christmas brunch on the 13th of December.

The December meeting at Lockley’s bowling Club next Wednesday will be a great meeting to bring  an aviation or non aviation friend, as accomplished Speaker and author Kate Clements will be talking about her flight from Scotland to Australia in a canvas covered aircraft. Her book will be available to purchase at the club special price of just $20. Click on the December 9th meeting in the club calendar for all the details. Please book your meal with Steve Biele.

Sport Aircraft Club annual Christmas breakfast on Sunday 13th of December -give Steve Nelson your intention to come so that he can make sure enough food is catered.

The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who, in their grueling travels across trackless lands in prehistoric times, looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space, at full speed, above all obstacles, on the infinite highway of the air.  ~Wilbur Wright
