At our last meeting on the 14th of August we were pleased to introduce a new member Mr Andrew Chown. Membership to the Sport aircraft Club has now increased by about 10% this year.
Survey results for the club project to build a Sonex aircraft were around 95% in favour, so the deposit for the airframe kit was paid once Steve Nelson successfully negotiated a 10% discount while he was in Oshkosh. Your council is refining the management plan for the build project and will announce more details at the next meeting.
Andrew Hogarth spoke to members about his recent venture into obtaining his instrument rating. Andrew then answered some questions from the audience and was presented with a bottle of wine.
Steve Nelson gave a report and presentation following his trip to Oshkosh. Lack of military aircraft, due to US budget cutbacks was noticeable and the EAA had to pay for air traffic controllers at the fly-in for the first time. However the roll up of private aircraft in all categories was, as usual, amazing.
Look forward to seeing you at the next meeting on Wednesday evening the 11th of September, where Dr Dan Anderson will address us on aviation medical issues and invite questions from members.
The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious.
