Presidents Report April 2016

The AGM last month resulted in one change to the council line up. We welcome Tim Svenson as the new membership officer and thank Tom Banko for the work he did for the club as membership officer. Your council has decided that the remaining councillors would keep the same responsibilities- thanks again to those councillors continuing for another year. Please contact the council members via “Contact” tab on the Sport Aircraft Club website with any query you might have.

Welcome to Greg Robertson who has recently arrived from Queensland joined the club and housed his Best Off Aircraft “Nynja” in the club hanger.

The Echuca fly away is on the 16th of this month so if you are still considering joining with the other 18 or so making the trip, book some accommodation, and then contact Steve Nelson or myself to get you name down for the dinner and boat trip. Greg Tabe is planning to take the Club Sonex provided the full registration is through and it can be flown outside for the 25 nautical mile restricted area. Should be a nice jaunt.

Club meeting next Wednesday 13th April promises to be a good one with Michael Smith speaking – his subject “Around the world at 80 Knots- Circumnavigation in a Searey”.  We are expecting a large group so book your meal with Steve Biele early.

Important- the venue for club meetings is now Public Schools Club 207 East Terrace Adelaide SA 5000.

The Club Sonex build project has now flown off its mandatory 25 hours in the restricted area and the full registration has been applied for. We are planning an introduction day at the club hanger at Murray Bridge once the paperwork is in order together with check flights and passenger rides as appropriate.

Your council has decided that new Club name badges are due and you will notice the council members wearing the new badge. We will be handing out forms for you to fill out so we get your name and aircraft correct when they are printed.

“I think it is a pity to lose the romantic side of flying and simply to accept it as a common means of transport….”  ~Amy Johnson
