The trip started out to loosely follow the Qantas Empire Flying Boat route of 1938 from Sydney to London, in the Searey amphibian “Southern Sun.”

Somewhere along the way the plan changed… Why stop now, just fly home again.

The trip included one flight of 16.5 hours, from Adak in the Aleutians to Kushiro in Japan. Adding some diversions, he recorded 21.8 hours flying in one day!

See his travel blog here. A fantastic collection of photographs and thoughts along the way.
