Avalon Airshow Report

Ted King & I arrived on Thursday at 12.55pm & were surprised to find only one other aircraft in the circuit which made for a very casual start to our Avalon. We were shown to our parking spot in the SAAA’s reserved area.

The show is VERY big with a lot of walking to be done over the 4 days that we were required to stay there for being part of the static display. In my opinion that’s 2 days too long for any airshow (baring Osh).

The civil aircraft eg. Sports, GA & RAA’aus number were low according to past attendance’s I’m told. The crowds on Saturday & Sunday were huge but not many SACSA member made the trip.

Ted & I hung around with Graham Treloar & Don Frazer most of the time & had some good laughs at dinner back in the Geelong pub we stayed atall .

We attended the award show where the old RV 7a pulled a couple more awards for the shelf. The winner of the Concourse DeElegance was a Beautifully restored 1939 4 seat Waco. A well deserved winner I must say (note the American rego). We took off at exactly 5.30 with our trip home taking exactly 2 hours Aircraft ran perfect & it was a good trip.

Will I go again….I don’t think so…& and by the way, CASA were ramping at Avalon East.
