There is an RAAF Vampire and Canberra bomber, an RNZAF Heron on display, as well as many sections of Avro Anson aircraft. The Canberra is stored outside and I must admit it looks strange when overflying the site, seeing a Canberra bomber in the middle of a paddock! Lincoln was kind enough to fire up the RR Merlin engine, as used in wartime Spitfire aircraft, a sound once heard is never forgotten.

If you have not been to the South Australian Aviation Museum (SAAM) at Port Adelaide recently I can report the delivery of 2 new RAAF aircraft now on display. An F/A-18 Hornet fighter and a Pilatus PC9 Trainer can be seen, both decorated in an ARDU (Aircraft Research & Development Unit at RAAF Edinburgh) colour scheme.
Also new at the Museum is the establishment of the SAAM Foundation to help raise funds for the maintenance and future preservation of South Australian aviation history. Towards this end the Foundation seeks donations and benefactors to reach a target of $1 million in the next 5 years. This will be used for the expansion of the facility as the collection grows, as well as day to day running costs. If you are able to assist or can suggest others who can, or just need more information then contact me or email the SAAM Foundation.

Club events coming up include a club BBQ at Murray Bridge Airfield on Sat August 20th from 1030 am. It is the usual format, fly in or drive in for a bit of club camaraderie. Entry is by donation with 100% of proceeds going to RFDS.
We are rostered for a Bunnings BBQ fundraiser at Windsor Gardens on September 24th. Greg Tabe is looking for 2 more volunteers so contact him if you can assist.
Be advised that if you operate from or into Murray Bridge Airfield (YMBD) it will be completely closed to all movements for 7 weeks from 5th September and not reopen until 25th October. This will allow for the long awaited sealing of the main runway and some of the taxiways.
