Plenty to see and do at Ausfly 2013. After a 3.5 hour trip in the Cessna 172 from Murray Bridge to Narromine on the Thursday I was met with a ‘Follow me’ bike and directed to the 3 day parking area. After booking in to the Imperial Stay Hotel I met a few like-minded Aviators for dinner at the local serviceman’s club. Friday saw an early start with breakfast at the aeroclub and a walk around of the planes and displays. Over the 2 days I managed to attend 4 workshops including the CASA safety seminar, demonstration fiberglass in aircraft construction and two seminars on the use of iPad software in aircraft. The flying parts of the airshow were well-timed and organised and showed some good aerobatics, formation flying and warbird demonstrations as well as an opening parachute display and a model aircraft demonstration which included a F15 model with a jet engine which in the distance looked like the real thing.

The event concluded with the Gala dinner and a keynote address from Ryan Campbell who has just become the youngest person to fly solo around the globe. It was inspiring to see such a young person stepping up in aviation.
